Electromobility in Public Transport of Santiago

Over the last 12 years, public transportation in Santiago, Chile has been undergoing a revolutionary transformation with the incorporation of electromobility, which is changing, step by step, the life of millions of people with an improved quality of service and being friendlier with the environment. This, in accordance with the terms signed by Chile in the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations (UN). During 2018, the Metropolitan Public Transportation Board (DTPM) and the Secretary of Transport incorporated the first 203 electric buses, using the expiration of contracts of operating companies’, the need to renew buses that completed their useful life and the extension of contracts subject to the renewal of the fleet with electric buses.
