The department is responsible for the delivery of public transport services in Dubai including the management of the 6 depots activities, bus stations and the centralised Bus OCC. rHe is the current chairperson of UITP MENA Bus Working Group and member of Bus Committee in UITP Brussels. Under his leadership, the UITP MENA team holds regular technical and strategic workshops on important regional transport development and invites international subject matter experts contribution. Under his leadership, a regional UITP MENA Bus Tender Guidelines document was published in 2017.rrHe has over 15 years of experience in construction and transport industry. He joined RTA since 2007 managing various responsibilities within RTA including Public Transport Infrastructures, Planning and Business Development, and Knowledge & Innovations. He contributes to the Dubai Sport Council as member of Projects Committee and mentors young UAE professionals.
Public Bus Tendering in Dubai: Key success factors to achieve excellence
RTA Dubai had recently procured 689 buses through competitive tendering. The new fleet consists of 12m city buses, inter-city coaches, double deck and midi buses aims to replace existing buses to be decommissioned and to support the upcoming Dubai Expo 2020 event with dedicated transport services.rThis presentation will focus on the experience and the outcomes achieved from the two recent bus procurement projects.rIn his presentation, Mohamed Al Ali will share the strategies and key success factors in procuring a value for money fleet that is fit for purpose. At the same time the outcome of the tender created a distinct RTA approach to fleet procurement that challenged the bus OEMs globally through targeted development of buses suitable for hot desert environment.
