Five solutions for bringing on 300 additional STM buses
The STM's experts assessed the capacities of existing bus garages, reviewed renovation and construction projects and analyzed multiple scenarios in order to develop a strategy to respond to the accelerated growth of the bus fleet. Their work resulted in a strategy based on five solutions that can be deployed over the short term. The solutions include moving up new construction projects and the renovation of existing facilities. Investments of $800M will be used to make these solutions a reality. The STM also plans to integrate technology for the electric buses that it will acquire exclusively from 2025, as well as the sustainable development criteria that many of the STM’s facilities are known for. The STM will thereby leverage its expertise to meet the challenge of this promising project that will improve mobility in Montréal.
